ACCENT: Classy Lady launches solo comedy show

At the beginning of the year 2000, comedian Sandra Battaglini had just been let go from her first job in marketing.

She was on her way back to Toronto after spending New Year’s with her family in Sudbury.

Battaglini’s friend was driving on Highway 69 when she failed to see an oncoming car before turning left. The car spun into a snowbank. After Sandra and her friend crawled out, the car exploded.

Her overriding thought in the ambulance on the way to the hospital?

“I really want to make my improv class this Saturday.”

She made it to that class the following week and on June 14, Battaglini will launch her second solo comedy show on stage in Toronto, entitled
